The choices you make today will impact how well you feel tomorrow and in the future. Planning your days well and making healthier choices will leave you with more energy, motivation, less stress and more clarity. Healthier choices will help to strengthen your immune system, reduce your risk of illness, and live life feeling your best for longer.

Eat the colours of the rainbow – include a wide variety of colours and natural foods in your daily diet to help you optimise your vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.  Where you can, choose organic and non genetically modified food (GMOs).

GOOD FATS

Fats don’t make you fat – but sugar does.  Choose healthy fats to fight inflammation, boost brain health and burn fat – yes, burn fat!  Replace highly refined vegetable oils with extra virgin and cold pressed oils, ghee and grass-fed butter.  Increase healthy omega 3 and omega 6 fats such as organic avocados, nuts, seeds, oily fish and eggs.

SAY “NO”

TO SUGAR

Healthy-ness

Say no to sugar and all of its friends that disguise themselves under other names.  It’s your biggest enemy!  Seriously, would you be friends with someone who creates inflammation, stresses your body, increases your weight, increases your risk of diseases including Type 2 diabetes and cancer, and can lead to depression?  If you love the sweet taste, try using more natural sugar replacements in recipes such as stevia, pureed stewed apple, dates and other fruits.  Be careful not to overload.

KNOW YOUR

LABELS

Healthy-ness

If there is a long list of ingredients on the label, if you can’t understand or pronounce them and they’re so tiny you struggle to read them – then beware!  It’s potentially a bucket load of chemicals disguised as food that is waiting to wreak havoc with your digestive system.  Your body is not designed to deal with that many ingredients all at once, especially the chemical ones.  Keep it natural and simple – the fewer the ingredients the better for your gut and your health.

Sitting for prolonged periods day in day out will affect your health.  Movement is a fundamental part of good health and helps to energise you, maintain a healthy weight, as well as helping to support your bones, muscles and mental health.  You don’t have to visit a gym,  swim, take up a sport or go running – instead stretch, walk, do star jumps or even housework – whatever it is, keep moving often and do what fits with your day and your preference.

SLEEP WITH

pride

Healthy-ness

Minimal sleep and being tired is no longer seen as a badge of honour and its only success is to destroy your success.  The recommendation is for 7-8 hours of good quality sleep to rejuvenate your body, reduce stress and maintain good health.  Be proud to plan sleep as part of your daily routine and shout from the roof tops that you are human and you need your sleep to succeed at life.
